"Sweet music with a hard edge that cuts you up, then gently puts you back together…but just a little different”

The incredible vocal talents of stand up bassist Ida Sawabe, guitarists TJ Blair and Matt Magura, oldtime/ukrainian inspired fiddling of Andy Bart, and machine gun banjo picking and deadly slide guitar of David Nishikawa, combine to create a diverse and dedicated country/roots/bluegrass band, The Magnificent Sevens. Channelling musical heroes from Hank and Scruggs to Sabbath and Django, the Sevens maintain a 100% acoustic live show while blurring the lines between bluegrass, old time country, and rock’n’roll. The band has a relivent sound for the musically informed and synical landscape we live in.

From its Winnipeg, Manitoba home (the Slurpee Capital of the world), this hard working, acoustic five-piece has travelled many roads—over 100,000 km in 3 years throughout Canada and the US—since its debut release Dirty Roads (2008). A 7” collaborative recording with acclaimed Hamilton showman BA Johnston in 2010 led the band to the Youkon Terretory in support of their release. A brand new album All Kinds of Mean (2011) released across North America in Spring of 2012, will see the Sevens on the road once again, and so the legend continues.
